Randall Foster’s 30-year career represents an intersection of technology innovation, product launch, and financial management. He is a versatile, accomplished entrepreneur, global business builder, operational executive, investment banker, and venture investor. He has founded, grown, advised, and invested in businesses spanning hardware, software, and services, introducing innovations to more than a dozen global markets, navigating growth and crisis cycles, and achieved profitable exits from many private companies.
Randall completed the Jerome B. Fisher Management and Technology dual-degree program at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving a B.S. in Computer Science Engineering (1991) and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business (1991), earning Cum Laude honors distinction in both degrees. Foster also completed the 2002 Wharton Executive Program in Product Development: Analysis, Strategy, and Launch.
After three initial years in management consulting, Randall founded BenchMark Consulting International in 1995, a process improvement consulting and software firm eventually serving 70% of US largest 100 commercial banks and all 14 US automobile finance companies. Alltel Information Systems (today known as FIS) acquired BenchMark in August 2000 and Randall remained three years on the Alltel senior executive team as a division president at this $3.5 billion public company. In 2004, he founded Vumii, a US headquartered and Israel R&D creator of long-range, laser illumination, security and border defense surveillance systems and perimeter control software. Vumii was acquired in 2010 by Opgal, an Israeli thermal imaging joint venture of Rafael and Elbit systems, two multi-billion-dollar Israeli defense product companies. Randall remained as global security and US Country manager at Opgal (2010-2013).
Randall became a FINRA licensed investment banker in at a Focus Investment Bank (2013-2016), concentrated on M&A for emerging tech companies and placement agent services for private equity funds. He served as General Partner and COO at the venture capital firm, Seraph Group (2016-2018), a nationally focused co-investment VC investment firm with more than 90 portfolio investments. Additionally, Randall has been a personal early-stage angel investor since 1999, and VC Fund limited partner since 2005. Within the venture investing industry, Foster has evaluated more than 2000 companies and personally invested or guided fund investment into more than 50 technology startups.
Since 2019, Foster and his consulting firm, Coefficient X, function as an independent advisor, active board member, and equity investor in early-stage companies and venture funds. Foster is the current Board Chairman at Smart Eye Technology, Board Chairman of Conexx, the non-profit American Israel business connector for the seven southeast states, and a Fund advisor to Sound Media Ventures, a VC fund focused on media technologies.
